It’s an amazing gift to be able to tell people I’ve had the same best friends since I was 6. I credit that to the fact that my hometown friends are some of the most amazing, beautiful and powerful women I’ve ever known. We’ve had the loudest cheering section for each other as we all begin to conquer our dreams, and now it’s time to cheer for our bestie Miss West Virginia USA Andrea Rogers.
I’ve always known Andrea to be a genuine lovable girl. In the 6th grade I had to write a paper about what I thought she would grow up to be and rather than choosing a lawyer (which she was smart enough to be) I chose her dreams. Looking back, I realize that dreams of being a Rockette might be a little outlandish but Andrea actually had the determination and talent to back it up.
The Miss USA pageant isn’t the Rockettes…it’s better. Rather than being one of 50 woman on stage dancing, Andrea gets to be one person representing West Virginia. Her intelligence and ethics are something that should be a role model for not only every little girl but for every person who comes to know her. My dream for being in the Rockettes for people 5 feet tall has faded away, however I still believe Andrea could make an appearance at Radio City.
It’s not possible for the entire internet world to meet her but if you ever did you would be greeted by a giant smile and a hug (we have always been huggers and not hand shakers). In the first 3 minutes of talking to her she would have asked you so many questions about your life that you would immediately feel like friends. She’s only grown into a better person spending her time earning her Masters degree while teaching special education in our public schools. After school she teaches dance at the local recreation center, bakes Angry Bird cupcakes, and finds time to stay connected with all her friends (even the West Coast ones like me :))

Although the winter has been a little less thrilling than it was last year, I’ve still managed to make a few trips down the mountain on my board! Having just got back from my old home in Lake Tahoe, I’m anxiously awaiting my next adventure out to Steven’s Pass in Washington!
Although I don’t keep it updated often enough…my trips and experiences as well as some random deals I come across regarding snowboarding can be found on my site on Examiner.com! Luckily I think I have more to talk about than just snowboarding so this site should be a bit more random!
